NEWMAP Stakeholders Engagement on Environmental Sustainability
The NEWMAP project is targeted at reducing soil vulnerability in affected communities through the deployment of Gully Remediation and Slope Stabilization (GRASS), Livelihoods support for community members, climate change activities and community stakeholders engagement. The Community stakeholder’s engagement facilitated by GRACODEV was meant to enlighten community members of environment unfriendly behavior/ practices which are capable of destroying all that NEWMAP had invested. In delivering the objective of this component, GRACODEV conducted series of trainings to enhance the capacity of community leaders on soil/water conservation, bioremediation/tree planting, community action planning, etc. over 5,000 community leaders and other stakeholders were sensitized and trained on environmental best practices that will ensure its sustainability.
